Roof Rack Plastic Trim Removal
I just wanted to add onto here incase anyone else attempts to pull of the rails. My truck is in fairly good shape and I decided to go ahead and seal up the corner lights and clean up the rails before my roof rack comes in(20 years of hidden gunk). Ended up one bolt on the driver side do the above and left the sleeve spinning.I cant really describe what I did but trimmed the top part of the sleeve so the screw could drop back down and I just sealed it up for now. Started on the passenger and had another right as I started so I just stopped there. I wouldnt mess with them usless you have to. All the bolts also have blue loctite on them. Ill go back and fix the bolts I stripped if I get a leak or I have a reason to pull the headliner out.
Rear wire grommets for the roof corner markers are actually raised off the body seam (not down in the body seam) and should not attract leakage like the fronts, which are down in the body seam.
You can apply urethane with a long q-tip to reach them. Not well, but may suffice.
And don’t use silicone. Wrong stuff!

Yea I probably go back and redo them after I get the rack on. I was actually looking for your old post to see what you used and didnt find it the other day but see it now. Least of my worries after the stupid bolt sleeves.
