Roof Rail/Rack Molding Defect
I have seen a few posts from a while back that described the plastic molding on the roof cracking, but did not see anything like what my H3 has.
I ordered roof rails from gystle4u this week and upon installing them I noticed a defect on one plastic molding on the roof. It is not cracked, but appears to be warped. The molding is not sitting flush with the actual roof like the other side is, it actually bows up in the middle leaving an approx. 1 inch gap between the roof and the molding. Has anyone else seen or heard of this happening before? I probably would have never noticed this as I do not do much work up on the top of my hummer, but the installation of this roof rail system obviously brought it to my attention. I have an appointment with the dealership next week to have them look at it but wanted to see if anyone else had this problem.
I purchased my H3 only 1 month ago and needless to say I'm disapointed to see such a defect from the factory. Does anyone know how long it might take the dealership to fix this? Is this a part they have to special order? It looks as though the molding is actually rivited to the body of the hummer, I'm thinking this might be an ordeal.
I appreciate the input!

It was before installing. When I tried to slide the rack into place, I noticed it wouldnt slide in properly. That's when I noticed the gap between the molding and the room which caused the hump in the middle of the molding.
The molding cannot be popped back into place. It is a sturdy plastic that appears wasn't slid properly into place at the factory. As i mentioned, It is rivited into place and cannot be pulled out by human force. The roof rails simply slide into place, there is not enough force there to dislodge the moldings anyways.

Well without a doubt, you need to have the dealer replace it..it is obviously a defect..
Fear not..it may have been installed wrong or, is just defective..none the less..the replacement of a new one takes 15 minutes, no biggy, it's fastented down with two bolts ...This is the same peice that gets replaced if it's cracked, like so many of the earlier ones have...So it's probably in stock.
