Replacing “check engine light” bulb
It is a tiny LED. Never heard of that one just going out myself. I have come across a couple that were out though - but that was because some prior owner got tired of it being on and rather than address the problem they went after the symptom and broke the led off. lol
When you say it comes up in diagnostics do you mean like a Tech2 can make it come on in the cluster tests? If so than the led is fine and there is some other issue.

You don;'t need any test equipment, if you switch-on the ignition, all the instrument cluster lights come on as a means of checking them.
Pretty sure this is a legal requirement to prevent people disabling such things as an engine warning light.
Here in the UK at vehicle test stations, it's one of the 1st things checked, any vehicle will automatically fail if the engine warning lamp doesn't "come on" and then "go off" after starting.
If yours doesn't come on then it is faulty.
