Little Nervous..New H2 Owner
Love my new 2005 H2... but a little nervous to own one! We did a lot of research before we bought one, but now I am not sure I will survive the public intimidation... lol! Seriously feel like I have to defend my purchase (mpg, size, etc...) My Aviator only was getting 12 mpg.... whats the big deal with me getting a Hummer? I LOVE my H2, but I feel like purchasing it just put me into a hated class... how do I defend myself? I am mom with 3 kids who likes it for a daily driver but for fun on the weekends... I don't have a garage... I am a little worried for my car
LOL I'm getting ready to buy a H3 and I'm getting the same thing.... They don't make them ne more; you're not going to be able to find parts and if you do they're not affordable; they suck up gas; you're going thru a midlife crisis; etc.
Parts are not going to be an issue for a while... GM still has to make parts for them for 10 to 15 years past the end of production.
As for public ridicule... half the people you ever meet are below average intelligence, far less than half will ever even think to ridicule you, and you can guess which side of the intelligence line they are on. Generally speaking, people that feel the need to say stuff to you at the gas pump are insecure about themselves more than anything else. It really says something when they have to put down somebody else to make themselves feel good.
As for vandalism, it is done by cowards... and as such, when you are at mall parking lots you need to be careful about where you park and for how long.
Depending on where you live, most people either don't care or would love to check out the truck. I wouldn't get spooked about it too much, at the end of the day a few comments over a year doesn't amount to the joy of driving it around. They really are like nothing else.

I bought my H2 for personal pleasure and i will never ever care what others may think of my Hummie. So far,i haven't ran into any "haters" but i'm a pretty intimidating Mexican so,i'm not worried. lol...As far as knowledge,i would consider researching the history on the Hummer catalog so you could be more enlightened whenever confronted by some "tree hugger" or anti-hummer person/people.
I've been pondering this for awhile--but never really run into any haters so it hasn't been an issue.
We lived in Utah for the last 5 years where everyone drove huge lifted trucks so the HUMMER blended for the most part, and there were quite a few driving around.
Now that we're back in Florida, I don't think people are as obsessed with being dicks and it hasn't been an issue.
But I ponder it no less and settled on less is more--as in arguing with these people will get you no where, they'll just keep running their mouth. I've just decided on a couple simple approaches, one asking if I know them, then letting them know I've served 22 years in the Air Force and deployed and lived in alot of God forsaken locations to enjoy what ever free right I choose.
Many people tend to back off when they learn you're military.
The other, even simpler, response is to ask their name and let them know you're going to say a prayer for them.
I've decided I don't need to justify to anybody the choices I make or why I drive the vehicles I drive. So screw anybody who thinks you owe them an explanation, or for that, an apology for what you drive.

Worry about it never crossed my mind. Thought about putting Hybrid decalls on it. Just for fun and might keep that low life away.
So far I have had only compliments on the car and of course how much gas it takes and mpg's.
Next week probably I will have to haul an old (mid 80's) 3/4 suburban for 400 miles. Will see how that goes and what mileage will do
