Default That Rail Bolt Is Not Ware I was Told?

Going back to the water leak thread and the Roof Rail Track Bolt location, I attempted to seal up the threads of that bolt based on the location of that bolt.

I can't remember the thread location here on the Forum. Anyway...That bolt I was told was under the outer Marker Lamp housing. After removing the marker lamp and the groment and shining my light down in the hole, There was Nothing there. No Bolt. Then I realized the roof rail track is on the outer side of the roof and not in line with the Marker Lamp. It stops behind the Marker lamp. After sliding the roof rack back. I found a bolt close to the marker lamp in the rail. So I removed it and sealed it up with Plumbers compound.

So maybe this is an 08 and 09 thing? Marker lamp bolt location I was given is maybe for pre 08 and 09?

Or I totally Got the message wrong. "Yeah...That's The Ticket"

Plumbers putty? What happens to that compound on a sunny 90°F+ day with the roof temp @140-190°F+ under the sun?

I suppose the 08 and 09 might have the bolt further back? On the 03-07, the bolt is about 1 in forward of the wiring grommet hole under the corner marker lights.

The roof rack probably has a few more for mounting purposes, but with the forward rake of the vehicle, the front one gets submerged.

What Happens in your sink when you run the hot water and the the Temp is 140* and it goes around the drain in the sink which is sealed with Plumbers putty?

Thanks Robert... But it wasn't under the Marker Lamp but off to the side behind it.

Rather than plumbers putty, 3M 5200 is the sealant of choice. It's what we use on boats under the water line. Stay's flexible for 20 plus years.... But if you have to remove it it's absolutely brutal.

Yeah, Sounds about right Robert. It's an 08 and 09 Thing. The rail stops at the rear of the Marker Lamp. And the rail is to the outside of the Water Gutter.

Anyway I have a new post I'm putting up. Every one here can brainstorm and Idea I have. It'll be up in a few.

Yeah I gave up on all that years ago. Now I just carry a towel with me and an extra change of clothes for when I hit the gas and the sunroof tray dumps a gallon on my lap
