Default Radio reception?

I have an 03 H2 with the factory optional 6 CD Bose system. Since I've only had this vehicle for a few months I've noticed that the FM reception is poor at best, it has the small antenna on the right side of the roof. The stange part of this question is has anyone else notice that when the shifter is in park the reception is good but as soon as it is placed in any position other than park the reception goes to crap?? I'm thinking that there is a grounding issue but not sure how, any suggestions or cures will be greatly appreciated.

Yeah sounds like there is a ground issue.

I have a 03 H2 also and I can tell you my antenna went to crap... age or whatever, so I tried fixing it (and making it better) it was ok, but just not good.
So I get a tall antenna... figuring that I would pull in more signal... nope

Not sure whats up with the antennas but they are meh

Thanks for the response, yeah its not that I listen to that much FM but it would be nice to have that option, just think it odd that the shift lever could be related to the radio reception.

certz,
yeah that is odd.
everything from the shifter goes straight down.
the radio antenna goes from the roof, down the a pillar then across to the radio.
The only thing I could think it could be is that in the center console somewhere your amp setup (I assume you have a BOSE system, if not then disregard) is got a short and when you move the shifter you are hitting it and doing something to it... since the BOSE amp is under the shifter to the back of the console

Thanks, I'll check into that, I do have the factory 6 CD Bose system, was not aware that the amp was in the center console. Not too long ago I did take the shift cover off to replace the bulb under the PRNDL cover but didn't look to see the amp.

Hi, Did anyone figure out a resolve for this issue. I've had the same issue on my '04 H2 for several years. I've replaced the antenna, checked the bose for anything hitting it, nothing. I think it might have to do with a missing ground on the transmission housing?
As soon as it goes from Park to Drive, I lose FM reception. Weirdest thing.
Let me know if anyone fixed this issue?

Thank you
