Default P0452 code Fuel tank pressure sensor, replacement tips

Code P0452 (fuel tank pressure sensor replacement after changing gas cap)

This sensor is located on the top of the fuel tank (guessing 2004-2007 & probably 08/09?) Mine is a 2006 and it’s right on the top of the fuel pump assembly. I believe on 2003 it’s by itself, also on the top of the fuel tank, but more towards the rear. You do NOT have to lower the tank to get this (I believe when this is quoted for replacement, it’s quoted lowering the tank). You can reach this and change out in 15 minutes by simply removing the inside rear fender lining- you don't even have to remove the wheel. Once liner is removed, you simply (kinda) reach in & unplug the 2 connectors (fuel pump & this one for the sensor) - the fuel pump connector has a safety clip you need to remove first, you may be able to do without unplugging the fuel pump- was unplugged for more room to get to the sensor. Then you can reach in with your fingers & lift the sensor up from the plate. Installation is simply reaching in & pushing the sensor back into the hole. Plug two connectors back in, install fender liner & clear the code with scan tool. You may struggle for a minute removing & installing the sensor, take a deep breath & think how long it is to R&R the fuel tank.....
This may have been noted prior on the site, there was one post I found but I believe the pics of the tank with sensor directly mounted to tank was for 2003... Again feel free to correct me
Hopefully this saves someone in the future getting charged $750 to replace a $20 part w/ 15 minutes labor.....

Did the FTP sensor fail?... or did the connection fail.

Connector looked good and pins were not oxidized, tech didn’t believe was wiring related. No code since sensor replacement.

For those interested, this video starting at 5:44 has a detailed section on the Pressure Sensor (2003-2007)

my 03 has the pressure regulator external on the fuel rail / intake area on the drivers side not in the fuel pump housing

When I made heading it should have qualified “fuel tank pressure”. This sensor monitors I am guessing the pressure in the fuel tank for Evap. I tried to edit the post heading so it didn’t cause confusion - it didn’t edit the title
on 2003 this is mounted on the fuel tank (top- rear). 2004+ it became part of the fuel pump assembly (as the pics show)
sorry for confusion!!
