Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Can someone please explain to me how this gizmo works?

Because in my mind, if you heat up a bolt, bolt size is increased. How does that make a now larger hot bolt come out of a hole easier? I would think that it would be more difficult to remove the bolt if it’s hot ? Even if it cracks rust bond in the hole.

it cracks the bond as you stated. same as mechanics would do with an acetylene torch but in a more controlled fashion.

Kroil is about the best rust penetrating oil. The idea with heating the bolt as bronx said is to break the bonds. After heating let it cool back down to shrink back. Then working them back and forth (loosen/tighten) to get them out. Worst one to extract if broken is driver side rear and if all else fails you can get a clamp for that one that works great.

Question Why can I not find long tube headers for 04 h2?

I’ve been looking high and low on the internet for a good long tube set up for my 2004 hummer h2 I have the same problem everyone else has where the original manifold is rusted, falling apart and bolts are breaking. Also I want maximum performance I can’t seem to find a good pair of headers that I know will fit my hummer can anyone send me to the right place or tell me what I should be looking for I’m pretty sure the 5.3 to the 6.0 have the same ls head so the headers should be similar just when I put my vehicle in the website to see if it will fit they say it won’t. I just want to be sure..

It can heat a bolt to glowing red hot but in the time it takes you to put to heater down, grab a tool to remove it has cooled down enough to allow for easy extraction. These tools are golden.

I’ve been told headers are exact fit Especially shorties. It’s header back that will probably be different. But you will probably be doing a custom exhaust so short answer is yes

When I was doing the research, which was a while ago the only thing I came up with was a set that Dynotech made specifically for our H2 years when they first came out. I read a forum where the guy installed them and didn't have any complaints except it being to loud...ahhh thats good for me. I talked to Dynotech and they don't make em anymore. I had the specs but I can't find them right now. I'll have to call them again. My plan and a custom shop where I live said they could make em with the same specs as the Dynotech one but that got put on hold. Still plan on doing it. Also, I remember someone mentioning that Texas Speed and Performance could make em with the same specs. Not sure if 2500 will fit.

As far as all research I did headers are identical so you can buy any ones you like. I believe it was summit racing still sells a. brand or two that still has a listing for the hummer. And it’s the same part number for the 2500 Silverado of the same year.

I got a 2006 H2. What part number on Summit for the 2500 Silverado? I don't see one for the 6.0 vortech engine. I am not a tech or mechanical kind of guy.
