Installed new pioneer HU with GMOS-04, sound quality distortion when load
Odd - it must either be a difference in the software on our Tech2's or maybe the year vehicle? Mine is a 2003. As far as I'm aware there is no difference in the hardware on a Tech2 that would affect the menus in any way. My Tech2 is running software version 33.004 North America Operations (shows on the startup screen and is what is on the PCMCIA memory card).

Ah..... okay. I just connected a 12v power supply to look on mine closer. If I select a 2005 Hummer H2 it appears like yours and does not show me the amplifier (selecting the uplevel or nav radio). On a 2003 it goes like this...
2003>LD Truck, etc>Body>N>
On many of the GM vehicles you are presented with letters, in the case of a 2003 H2 that is N. On any that you have to select a letter, it is the 5th character of the VIN #.
I've also found that sometimes you can choose a different vehicle to expose functions in the software that will work on your vehicle but are not exposed when you select your specific vehicle.... Amusingly I added the "global windows" buttons on my 2003 which also required replacing the DDM. The Tech2 sees it just fine selecting my 2003 but it shows it as power pedals. lol I guess since the global windows use the same buttons and functions but is an option that only ever came on an H2 while the power adjustable pedals is available on a lot of different GM trucks and SUV's.
So try connecting yours and choosing a 2003 and see if you can access the Bose amplifier module that way. That is also a curiosity....
Also - I am not using the CANDI module at all on mine. There is not CAN bus on a 2003 is there? I thought it was all just Class II serial up through 2007 model H2's and only 08/09 are CAN bus. That is why only an 08/09 can use a Maestro to integrate vehicle functions on stereos.

Yep software same 33.004, North America Operations.
Selecting 2003 and "N" does show "Amplifier (Bose)" but the TECH2 cannot communicate. For 2005 the letters are grouped by "car model" so the option is "[R] Hummer"
You're right the 2005 is Class 2 and not CAN, however the CANDI module will still work, it just makes the cable even more bulky thats all.
The software differences are amazing, must be a nightmare for system programmers.
Now that I think of it more, I do believe someone on here has mentioned in the past that the 03/04 amplifiers are in some way different than the 05-07 ones and then there is the base and lux version of the amplifiers as well.
