Default HVAC blower

Has anyone else been annoyed with the noise coming from that blower. I've cleaned the debris from it. Then replaced it with a Delphi unit, and still.

Any ideas? Premium replacement? Insulating?

I have same annoying problem on my 08 H2 — cleaned out the debris and there’s still a high-pitched, repetitive whirling noise ... the noise slows and goes away when I turn off the fan.

*** Presume it’s the HVAC Blower motor — p/n: 89109320.

Is there anything else it could be before I invest in a replacement HVAC Motor?

Thanks for any helpful info! Respectfully,

CAPT JC

It's possible to run the fan on the bench, ideally using a variable voltage power supply, but a car battery would do. As I recall it takes around 8amps at 12V.

However, be careful to fix the fan down as it has a lot of angular momentum

You'd then know if the noise is coming from the fan itself.

Oceanbrave — Many thanks for the very quick response. I appreciate the technical approach; given the direct correlation btwn fan noise and climate pushbutton ‘on/off’, confident that the blower fan is the culprit. Plus — I don’t have access to a bench to do the forensics (need you as my neighbor!).

ps ... I found a knowledgeable HUMMER tech in the JAX area who confirmed my suspicion ... his advice: don’t replace it with a cheap blower motor ... buy GM / OEM part.

Again, thanks and drive safely! Best, CAPT JC
