I am writing on behalf of a friend. He has a Hummer H2 2007. He tells me that he started the car the other day and drove for about two minutes and then the gears failed totally. He has had it towed to a garage and they cannot seem to find the reason for the failure. It is an automatic transmission.

Apologies for not being completely au fait with mechanics of his car. It is not my area of expertise.

need more info on the issue. did he change gears at the 2 minutes if so probably shift linkage is disengaged. did it make any noise? maybe transmission pump failure or torque converter. did he engage the transfer unit if so maybe stuck in neutral because of a stuck encoder motor. when was the transmission fluid last changed? maybe clogged filter or filter is disconnected from the pan. was there any oil stains? maybe needs transmission fluid?
