Default "Thump" in the gearbox

Just started today.

In my 2007 H3 (automatic gearbox), from a standing start, there is a noticeable thump and hesitation as the gear shifts from first to second.

Any idea what the horrible news might be?

Default Now I'm confused!

I drove the car this morning and the gearbox is smooth. No ugly jolt or anything. I had checked the level of the liquid in the gearbox and it is full.

I should add that the problem occurred after a sixty mile turnpike drive in South Florida. Outside temperature was reading 92 degrees.

Default Bad news for me

I was happy when I went out this morning and the Hummer ran well without the " thump". When I went for a longer ride the thump was back! Curses!

I don't know if the transmission has ever been touched. I am leaving for Spain tomorrow evening and will try to have it done during the day....

Default Nose bleeder

Just got back from the Transmission Shop. They checked it over and pulled the codes. Said it will need a full overhaul: torque conc.; pump assembly; uptake valve body kit with other odds and sods ( clutch, o-ring, seal, molded pistons, gasket etc.). Bill estimated at a little south of 3 big ones.

Anyhoo, as I am leaving tomorrow, it will have to wait. Just have to leave strict instructions not to use it!
