Default How to remove H2 door lights?

Hi all.
I just traded in my 06 H3 for a 04 H2 and I'm trying to give it a few upgrades. One of the upgrades is changing out all the interior lights with LEDs. I have changed out all of them except the courtesy lights in the doors. Does anyone know how to take the light fixture out of the door panel? I tried poping one out last night but I ended up cracking the lens. I did a search on the forums here and on google but I couldn't find the answer. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Regards,

If I remember correctly you need to pry towards the door edge and pop that end out. The other end which would point towards the front slides into the panel so once the edge end is out you slide the whole assembly rearward.

I need to replace one of mine from cracking also.

thanks LoJac. I'll give that a shot. That was the end of the unit I started at but the red piece of the lens cracked off. I'll continue to try and pry off the door edge side some more. The lens is already broken, so I can't do too much more damage. lol

Yup, LoJac is right. I cracked the same thing so I just took the whole panel off. Depending on the size of your LED's you might have to drill out the back where the light is inserted. Mine we just a 1/8th small so i just SLOWLY took a drill to it.

Yup, I used a round file to make my openings slightly larger for the LED's I put in them.

Glad you got it out though.

When I did my full interior in LED's no one had any info on removal of any pieces. I basically went as gentle as I could with some of the parts but some lenses especially the lower courtesy lights at the bottom of the pillars you really have to pry on. I thought for sure I'd break things left and right but they eventually pop free.

Good luck with the LED swap!

Default Door lights

Well. I just wanted to make a post about the options out there now. My 2006 door lights are pretty dim and yellowish.
Yes, I did try the LED replacement blub when I had to change a window regulator.
But the better option is the full LED fixture... I think I paid under $40 for a set of 4 and they are kind of blinding.
I have no financial interest in the sales of anything here... just what I hope is some good advice.
Fitting new bulbs and having to grind open the hole to fit the new bulb is a waste of time.
Here are pics of all 3 options

Factory Bulb,

LED replacement bulb.

LED replacement fixture

Best!

Glad someone else brought it up. The new LED replacement courtesy lights are blinding. Even with a limo tint it looks like full daylight inside the truck at night. I may disconnect the fronts and cut the light in half

Default Part number for Pillar post base lights

Hi Sam!
Do you have the part number for this light? I bought an H2 that does not have a cover on it and I can't find the correct part number or name for this light/lamp.
