Default Help: Broken Coolant Line

Literally pulled into the driveway with the engine overheating, thank goodness I didn't get stranded.

Popped the hood and see that the right coolant line out of the firewall is disconnected. It's completley snapped off what appears to be the the fitting still inside. Plastic???

What type of repair is this? What's connecting this line?

Thanks in advance dudes!

After some research, looks like it's a broken heater hose connector, a known issue in GM rigs. A simple and easy fixt thank goodness.

Is the NAPA connector on par with an OEM version? It's just plastic but you never know.

Also, should I replace the other as well as a preventative measure?

Interested in hearing how you guys have handled this.

Yeah those plastic connectors generally are pretty weak. Usually only break when you try to remove them. Dorman, NAPA, etc make a replacement one. Since you will have it off I'd go ahead and use the opportunity to flush the heater core and replace both of the connectors. They can be a stubborn pain in the butt to remove too...

I just stick a garden hose on the nipples that are sticking out once you have both hoses/connectors off. Do not use extreme pressure but flush it good both directions. You would be surprised how much gunk comes out and how much better the heat will work later on. lol

Try your best to keep water from spraying all over the engine. You don't want to get the knock sensors wet.
