Default Overheating Question

I have a 2007 H3. It runs a little hot when I'm driving, but when sitting still and idiling, it climbs up to "H" pretty quickly. After popping the hood I noticed a little bit of smoke coming from the area I highlighted below:

What could be causing this? It runs a tad warm, just above the middle when driving, but again - while idiling and sitting still, he goes up to H.

Any ideas?

The fan felt fine - spins perfectly. I noticed the coolant was completely empty. HAHA. I didnt bother to check it beforehand because I had an oil change yesterday and he said my coolant needed a flush, so I figured there was coolant in there....guess not! Damn mechanics!

Maybe your technician did only flush...but you should really told him also to fill it after...
Or check the hose he should have removed to flush...maybe there is the problem?

Anyway if you loose coolant you would propably smell it.
