Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
I will check the relays and as far as any clicking from the starter, my girlfriend says she doesn’t think she heard any clicking when it happens or I don’t think I’ve heard any, but I would have to see when it happens again and double check
like I stated in the thread, I could get in the Hummer haven’t driven it in a week or two it’ll start right up drive over to Costco 15 minutes. Get gas. Try to start it back up. Won’t start happens numerous times. Wait about 20 30 minutes start right up
Agree with others thinking probable bad starter/start circuit. Being that the starter works well after cooling it would seem to rule out ALT/Charging ckt as the battery still has charge. That's leaving the starter (gets overheated from running/exhaust/manifold heat) or start circuit. Adding a schematic for you to look at in case you are mechanically inclined. Clean up all the battery (+ & -) cable connections where they terminate at the engine block, starter and frame.
I just read it says starter relay can cause intermittent starting. That’s what I’m having. Can you guys tell me when I get up in the morning start up drive it it starts fine when I get somewhere not always park. Sometimes I get back in. It doesn’t start is it a heating issue? It’s getting too hot somehow or could it be from these fuses and so forth
We can only make assumptions (gusses) based on the info you provide. Changing the starter relay is a very simple - and cheap - place to start. Yes, it can cause the problem you are having. But so can many other things as several folks have let you know. Without being on scene with you to do inspections or personal tests it's hard to provide a definitive answer. Go get a new relay and try that. The starter solenoid is also a relay but bigger for the high amperage. Even with a good 12V at the starter/solenoid, if the solenoid windings or contacts go bad it will act the same. But I would have to be at your truck to test it correctly.
Replace the relay in the fuse box and let us know if that works.
