Good guess MixManSc! That is just a horizontal shock absorber. Could be if rusted up badly Or bent shaft on it.

op should remove it and test steering.

hello, today i toke off the demper, but no result. damn it. not even a bit lighter then before.....

it drives good but the steering is a bit rough/heavy? doesnt matter if i losen the bolt on the steering house or tightning it, thats only resulting in more or less slack in the steering wheel.
can i put a video here? it looks simple. when you drive in a straight line en just steer a bit to the right or left , the steering is sticking a bit to that position, its annoying .
maybe the steering fluid is not the good one? i m thinking out loud. steering case bad? too rough/sticky?

PS fluid should be changed out at least every 4 years. It gets real dirty in the H2.

if it is dirty, then you need to flush out 2x in a row.

cheapest prevention.
