My truck has always been a little difficult to fill up. It was always picky about fast pumps. But recently it wouldn’t take any fuel at all. I also got the “tighten gas cap” message right before. Figured it was just the vent valve clogged again. Sure enough when I replaced it and took the old one apart it was full of mud.

It is better now but it still keeps clicking off every few gallons or so so I’m thinking about just ditching the charcoal canister and putting a t in place and bypassing it. I know it’s generally frowned upon but if anyone asks my h2 is off highway only. I also don’t like Greta.

Are there any other unforeseen consequences of doing this other than the occasional smell of gas?

I don't like Greta either but a functioning Evap system is a good thing. Gas fumes in the garage is not good.

Now, about your issue. +3 on the safety issue. Since you only use it off-road and obviously in muddy environments, the system will be subject to clogging. BUT -- SAFETY should be primary. Perhaps figure a way to extend all EVAPsystem tubing in a way the mud can't get to the end vents.

If you do your mod, keep it outside away from anything. Fumes = KABOOM
