Fuel leak around fuel pump locking ring
Arghh The replacement ACD pump arrived today ... guess what?
Yes damaged exactly the same as before, I put this down to ACD'd packaging not the supplier, RockAuto's in this case.
So if you are ordering an ACDelco MU123 unit from anyone be careful, the unit is packed like a pea in an oil-drum which is a dreadful shame!
So my plan is to order a Delhpi FG0393 in the hope that it's packed alot better. Any thoughts?
It only they picked-up a phone, it could have saved a whole load of time and expense.

Wow, I have never received anything damage from RA and you twice in a week. To much turbulence crossing the atlantic?
File another claim and be sure to share that information with them, so they can properly pack and secure.
Btw, customer service is only available until 6pm est.

Arghh - tried to contact Rock but could bypass their system to get to talk with somone.
So just recieved a 3rd unit, this time a Delphi pump (which looks identical to the ACD part) and, you've guessed it, its broken in exactly the same way.
This time Rock want to deduct the shipping fee from my refund.
So my question is could the broken part be replaced?
Nothing "appears" to be actually broken in the picture but I might just not be seeing it. It does look like it is ready for the float arm to be snapped on though. I know some are shipped with the float arm detached. The small bend goes in the middle of the white circle and then it snaps into the right part of the black plastic.
Also yes, the fuel sending part of it can be detached and replaced independently. Not very cheap on its own though.... https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ding+unit,4436
Not quite identical but very close and this might help you figure it out.... https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...s-86428/page2/
Might be able to use bits like just the new contacts with one of the others or your original even.

MixMan, if you look close at where the float would connect you can see the two tabs on the bottom are broken off, that's what I think is broken on this one. Ocean, could you possibly use some aircraft grade thin gauge wire to tie around the float arm? It looks like you could get it around the plastic piece and the arm and twist it with some pliers tight enough to hold it in place. Its not ideal, but could work and would be gasoline safe. This is the wire i'm talking about
MixManSC indeed coffeydp is correct, the two lower lugs have been snapped-off. All three pumps delivered were been damaged exactly the same way, in fact the 2nd one I'm pretty sure was broken before being re-boxed and shipped as 1 lug was missing.
Using wire is a possibility, which I have given some thought to. As it happens the arm is pretty secure with jonly the 2 existing lugs, so I'm considering going with that.
Rock have been good so far, I managed to ask them about shipping with better packing and they are looking into it.
I've also asked Delphi if they could ship out a spare sender or plastic part, so I'm waiting for an answer on that.
You guys don't know how lucky you are over the other side of the pond
