Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Hey guys just change my front diff axle and pinion seals and put mobile 1 in front diff. A week later I see fresh gear oil on skid plate. After cleaning area it is leaking where casing meets on rear side of diff
2 things to check first, Vent line, make sure it's not plugged, any pressure that builds up in the diff will cause oil to come out where ever it can.
Also the front diff in an H2 is very fussy when it comes to fluid level, you want to make sure you don't overfill it even a little bit. The full level is just below the threads with the vehicle level.
Some people will jack up the drivers side just to get some extra oil or when doing the service then have a problem with the axle shaft seals spewing oil.
Another thing I have seen is leakage around the bolts that hold the 2 halves together. If this is the case get some Permatex 80019 Aviation Form-A-Gasket 3 Sealant. Remove the bolt with the leak, clean, spray some brake clean into the threads then apply the sealant to the bolt and reinstall. This stuff really works good.

You put some other sort of Mobil 1 gear oil into your front diff instead of 80w90 synth gear oil??? The H2 diffs spec synth 80w90 gear oil. That might have been a contributing problem if Mobil was too thin. Could just seep or weep out.
