It finally happened...
I was hauling a trailer and the brakes turned to mush - the scariest thing ever. Luckily I was on a back road and was able to pull over into someones yard. I had it towed but don't know the diagnosis yet. I'm pretty sure I saw leaking when they put it on the tow truck so my guess is the brake line rusted through or pinched some how. The funny part is at my next oil change that I was about to schedule I was going to have them visibly inspect the brake lines because I know what a common issue this is due to the forums. Then my brakes go out before I set it up!
hummer_on_fumes I can relate to that feeling of being scared. Glad you're OK
My front-left went 2 years ago, last December the rear-right burst, next day the rear-left then Master Cylinder line 1.
The gods were trying to tell me something the 1st time, but I wasn't listening, finally I got the message

This must only be an issue on ones that have been near the coast or northern cities where they salt the roads. I've checked and on my 2003 the brake lines still look great. Bummer to hear of so many having issues with them failing.
I am in the process of doing mine now along with the fuel pump. I ordered stainless steel kit from sstubes. Waiting to get them early next week. If you have any questions...glad to help if I can. Check youtube...Oceanbrave put on some great videos on brake lines and fuel pump install.
For those that went through the same with their rusted out brake lines, did you also replace fuel lines with stainless?
