Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default De-Chroming w/ Rust-Oleum Spray Paint

I’m sure this has been done in the past, but I thought I’d share my experience.

I am painting over the chrome bits on my Hummer with Rust-Oleum in Matte Hammered. I figured if I mess it up, I can always wrap them in the future.

H3 with chrome trim. “before”

Removed the handles first. Masked the back side of the handles and plastic parts.

Used a medium box and cut holes in it to hold the parts in, and keep them upright for painting.

Example (sample) of a center cap spray painted with Rust-oleum in matte hammered. Used a dremel to remove the paint over the Hummer label and accent.

Dude, I would apply some soft sandpaper, to make it more abrasive... let see how long it will last.

I definitely do plan on doing the grill as well as the mirrors. The nerf bars will eventually be removed all together.

yeah, I ended up using a 120grit. And honestly, being handles, I don’t expect the paint to last very long; which is ok. Might end up wrapping them in the future if that’s the case.

I normally don't like paintvthe plastic, let alnoe the parts you'll touch all the time, because the paint doesn't hold on properly.
I paint the chomed and cracked grill on my hummer, just because I couldn't find proper replacement, we will see how long it will work...
Normally to make proper job, you should remove the chrome completely. To do such from my mags, I spent 800$ for 5......

Give plenty time to cure, dry heat best to cure, then a coat or 2 with clear acrylic sealer.
