Default Check engine light from Air to spring conversion

Is there a way to clear the error code from converting from air ride to spring permanently?
Thank you all for the help you have given me so far. I've been able to take a kind of neglected truck and make it fairly nice again.

Disconnect your battery, unplug the AS Unit if you haven't already, then reconnect the battery.

If you still get the message repeat the battery disconnect/reconnect.

Once the BCM recognises there is no AS it should map it out.

Please let us know if this works for you...👍

Default Where is the as unit

Thank you, that sounds relatively easy but could you please tell me where the AS unit is located?

On the compressor shelf under the rear end. That is the module with the plug that has a ton of wires to it. Probably also good to disconnect the AS relay which is on the firewall below the brake hydroboost unit.

The Air Suspension Unit is the compressor system and located between the rear wheels, by the rear diff.

It may have been already removed and, btw, it's actually worth selling either as a complete unit or in parts.

If still fitted, though you may wish to keep it, it will serve no further function so can no longer be used i.e. no tire inflator.

Once unplugged all the existing connectors from the vehicle harness will need protecting from water ingress.

Below is top view of the unit, you can see the two connectors at the bottom of the picture.

I'll have to climb under there and check it out. I'd like to have the onboard air if possible

The on-board air is a well discussed topic, unfortunately the the AS is a tightly controlled computerised system, monitoring things like ride-height, air-bag pressure, air-valve currents, compressor temperature etc, etc.

The rear suspension is a critical factor in the stability of the vehicle, so if an error occurs a DTC is generated, as you've already discovered. The only way to fix this, is to restore the AS as it was.

Now having said all that, are you sure your Check Engine Light is related to the AS, do you get the "CHECK AIR SUSPENSION" message?

I'm definitely not getting a check air suspension message, I wonder if they somehow cleared that but didn't fix the check engine light. I should probably plug it in to a code scanner and double check it.

Agreed. Need to know what the code is.

Regardless - if you remove the air springs and convert it to coil springs, there is no viable way to continue to have any functionality of the air compressor system. Well - I guess you could intercept the trigger wire to the compressor relay and tie that into a manual switch, remove all of the piping to the valve module and somehow pipe the compressor itself directly to the inflator valve in the back. Still, without the air springs, there is no way to leave the controls connected as you will have non-stop faults in the system. Many have wanted to do the very same, I'm not aware of anyone who has made it work.
