Default Blower motor control module (resistor)

Does anyone know of a reliable replacement for the oem Carter group supplier# SZ2498 blower motor resistor? I know they stopped manufacturing the original and cant find any consistencies in a reliable replacement.

I found the part on ebay. Its not oem but so far its working great and for $40 definitely worth it. Its made in china but what isn't i guess..

If your blower motor was stuck "ON" the it's quite probable the MOSFET device inside the control module died (very common)

If this is the case you may be able t repair your old one, there's a videos on YT to show you how.

Amazon has the direct replacement on the resistor and should you need the blower, also. Each take less than 5 minutes to swap. I did the resistor (2 - 8mm bolts, disconnect 2 plugs, literally 5 minutes) first because blower continuously ran after key was out ( had to remove the 40a blower fuse located in the under hood fuse box, to stop). Resistor swap worked, however was obvious bearing scream in blower motor ( 3 - 8mm bolts literally 5 minutes to pull). To gain access just remove the plastic shroud under passenger side dash ( 2 - 7mm screws and 5 minutes). This will be the easiest hummer repair you may ever do. Bearing squeal was shrieking and took out the resistor. At cost, if you still have both original, just order both and be done with it. Amazon delivered both overnight.

resistor - $22.89 (exact fit including connectors)

blower motor - $37.88

may be the cheapest and easiest blower resistor and blower swap you have had the pleasure to ever do. Tools - 7&8 mm socket 1/4” drive, 1/4” ratchet and a 1/4” socket driver handle. It really is that easy. Make sure you pull the 40mm fuse in underhood fuse box before replacing. It’s in to top row of fuses around middle. (It’s marked on the legend as blower).
