Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
I'm just joining the thread. I have a 2007 H2 and the screen has stopped coming out of the mirror when the truck is put into reverse. I have not taken the mirror apart yet to see what the issue might be. What I am wondering is if the newer mirrors with the screen integrated with the mirror that came with the 08/09 H2 can be installed in the 07. Either direct fit or with (presumably wiring) modification. I never liked that pop out screen but want to stick with OEM parts versus after market as much as possible.
That mirror is a pain to get apart to fix. I have one with the same issue I tried to correct - I gave up and bought a functioning one off eBay.
I finally fought my inner OCD and replaced the stock navigation with a Alpine 650 (shallow depth) with apple car play - added a new rear camera to the alpine and now have Waze for navigation, Bluetooth, and a rear view cam I can see out of.
I have thought of replacing the nav system as well. It has some gaskets and seals starting to seep and the chrome on the rims are starting to show their age and a few odds and ends like the mirror. I’m at the point of trying to decide if I should invest in getting it all sorted out and drive it for a few more years or just go ahead and sell it. Decisions, decisions...
If you keep - go with the alpine ilx-W650 - it has apple play, (so you can use Waze and Google Maps), front & Rear camera inputs, XM ready, USB stick, USB input, etc- and (the biggest plus) is that it is less than 3" depth!! that means all your adapters, steering wheel controls, cabling etc- all tuck behind the stereo without molesting the truck! its 100% easily reversible for the purist down the road & it looks like it belongs in the rig-
That looks good. Does it use the existing XM module? What about the existing backup camera wiring? Are you able to access it under the dash or did you run a new camera?
Those carbon fiber overlays look good as well though I favor the burlwood ones. Are yours actually replacement parts or those laser cut stick on things?
The dash is the factory carbon fiber look that was standard on the special editions- much better than the regular dash finish as that easily gets scratched and worn. This factory finish is pretty durable to wear. So to clarify, its not an overaly- all the dash pieces are coated to this appearance.
You install a new XM module and you can use this existing XM antenna (behind the glove compartment). I ran new camera wiring since I had the dash all open, came from under the rig and through the grommet for the transmission shift cable and straight up to the radio. Its a clean install.
