Best time to change mounts+tube. Take your time to clean and correct any issues you see. GL

your valley gasket looks like it might need to be replaced might want to inspect the oil pressure sender too.

Lol - yeah this sort of a project always snowballs some into a bit of "since I'm already in here, might as well do this too". Nice to see someone willing to tackle this themselves too. Not nearly as many these days who can do this sort of work themselves.

Starting to look clean. I’ll do one more pass of scrubbing the passenger side.

Slow progress better than no progress.

I’ll do one more pass on cleaning the heads as well.

work trip coming up so break till Saturday. Cheers

The heads should get more attention. Nice work

how did you get the pistons so clean lol? I usually pressure wash heads when I do a head gasket. How do the push rods looks on the ends? There's typically a few that are worn and no longer round. They should be shiny and perfectly spherical. I pull out the bad ones and use some good junkyard ones. I have never used a power tool to clean a head gasket surface. Definitely no scotch brite. Razor blade only. I just did Subaru head gasket and the heads were junk because someone went crazy with a grinder. The block wasn't great either but salvageable.

Those pistons are really clean. Nice job. FastNY is correct, lots of engines have died shortly after a head gasket job, due to someone using a 3M pad on a whiz wheel.

Failures were caused by Roloc discs Abrasive Material: Aluminum Oxide, Silicon Carbide
Shops I've worked at banned using those 20+yrs ago,on intakes & heads. Only Bristle Disc Abrasive Material :Ceramic
