that motor is clean for its age, you defiantly take care of your truck and your lucky it was loose as most are broken off in the head.

thank you. And yes we do regular maintenance on it. It’s our daily driver. Hoping to hit that 500k in a few years but there is still a lot to update/replace. I will post more progress as more parts come in.

btw, I ordered the head bolts and they are by DNJ. Anyone know if these are good replacements? I read a couple of reviews after I ordered them and some of those were not good. More were good than bad. Cheers

Default Please comment if you see something I should be worried about

Has deposits but the walls look smooth.

This was during the removal process. There was quiet bit of coolant left.

At cylinder 7 where I saw the leak

Right side is cylinder 7

Right side C7

Lots of deposit but it looks solid.

Close up of that leak area. Looks like it’s been clogging up.

Let me know if you see any problem areas. Thanks.

Never heard of those? I've always used oem, victor reinz, felpro, mahle,or skp Cylinder Head Bolt This vid shows they are chinavirus bolts. If they torque without breaking you should be good to go?

Take some time thoroughly cleaning surfaces and all deposits. Check DECK+install a quality set of gaskets & DEXCOOL ONLY! GL

I use OEM fasteners almost exclusively unless I'm pushing compression then I'll move to ARP. I've seen DNJ in the aftermarket for some time but have never used them so cannot comment on the head bolts.
looking at the #5 & 7 piston tops it looks like you may have been getting some water in those cylinders for a little bit (carbon is washed).
I agree with Hummerz clean it good and inspect everything,

Default Day ? Update

After taking a couple of days off today I got the passenger side head out. Next up clean up and I think it’s time to order new engine mounts while I’m at it. This would be the perfect opportunity to get this swapped as well.

few more pics

Extra coolant was cleaned up

Looks like something is clogged up top left gasket. And nice oil dipstick tube. It finally snapped but I have a new one to replace it with.

Overall doesn’t look too bad
