Default Starting issues

Good evening,
I have a 95 H1, with a 6.5 N/A. I am currently expecting starting issues, when it is cold it will start fine. Once it is hot and is shut off it won’t start if you try 10-15 mins later, and will take 3-4 hours before it will start again. During this time it will not start, I don’t have power to my lift pump. Tonight it happened and I poured cold water on the top of the motor and the glow plug light kicked on and it started after cranking on it for about 10-15 seconds. I am thinking the high pressure oil pump is going me issues, but looks like the intake manifold has to come off, not sure but can’t get access to the back of the motor because of the dog house. So I am hesitate to before start tearing into the motor with out making sure. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Take the doghouse off and there is an access panel that can be removed to provide access to the back of the motor. Might have a GPC going bad.

If you don't have power to the lift pump your truck will start until the bowl in the water/fuel separator is empty. Then there won't be fuel to prime the motor with. Once started the truck will run regardless of whether the fuel bowl in the bowl runs dry. Once you shut it off it won't start. If you need to you can take the top off of the fuel filter cannister( water/fuel separator ) and fill the bowl. Your truck should start at that point if the lift pump issue is your problem.

I believe that the lift pump in your year truck, only powers on when the truck is running.

Have you replaced your PDM? Usually when those get hot they can mess up with how the engine runs. I had one start to go and once the truck got warm, weird things started to happen. If you don't have a spare PDM, get one, they will go out on your.

Swap out the PDMC and see if that fixed it. If it does, keep the old one for a trail spare. If the PDM is still in the original spot , move it. it needs to stay cool and that isn't where it was originally mounted. For more info, start here:
