Which rims is better... 12 bolt or 20?
Then the 24 bolt wheel. These sport radial tires only. All of them are 37" tall and there are both load range D and E. There are also 2 tires that you will see on the 24 bolts. BFG baha TA's and Goodyear MTR's
24 bolts and BFG's
24 bolts and BFG's
This is what the Goodyear MTR tread looks like.

This picture shows what all three side by side look like. They are all 37's and they all measure out at a 37 but the angle the tires were tilted in this picture makes the MT's look taller. That is not the case, they are all the same height.

Back to the queston. Which is better? It all comes down to what you are after. The way that the O rings sit on the 8 bolts is much better than the 12's or 24 bolts. By wheel design. The 12's and 24's have studs that hold up better over time (but we have 1000's of extra studs for next to nothing if you ever needed one). The steel is better if you air down and go beat on your wheels but the guys that do that add rock rings that get welded into the outer ring of the wheels. Here is a set that we did for Ian from Xtreme 4x4 the TV show on spike. He did a build on the cover a Crawl a few mo back. Our products are going to be on Xtreme 4x4 here in the next 3 weeks too. I'm not here to sell products only to educate on the what is what of humvee wheels. I believe if you add rock rings it's all up to the look you are after. We like easy so 8 bolts have a big soft spot for us. A lot of customers love 12 and 24 bolts and for them that is a great choice too. Just don't fall for the "you can't put a MT on a 24 bolt wheel" stuff. We machine inserts for the inside of the wheels. If we know what tire you plan on running we can make the insert so it's the correct size for your tire.

Just so people understand we have customers that are running our Humvee wheels that do this on the weekends for all 3 style of wheels. This is one of our customers and Youtube hero Jordan Tanner who gets it done!!
Sorry to stray sort-of off topic here, but I am new to H1's and saw this as a place to insert my question. I'll start a new thread if needed.
My H1 is running the Goodyear MT/R tire on 17" wheels. Do most people venture off road with a spare tire or without? I've ordered a rear winch bumper that will remove my spare tire carrier. I can always throw the tire on the roof rack if I need to when I hit the trail. Do people run typical beadlock wheel/tire combo's on H1's? If so, can anyone point in the right direction? I used to run Defenders off road quite a bit and never had a tire pop off the bead, but I always had a spare tire so I didn't worry about it too much. Thanks!
