I'm in the process of buying a 1989 M998 from a dealer here in Ontario. I'm almost ready to close the deal, but I'm having a difficult time finding an insurance company that will insure me for trail riding. As soon as I mention that I want to take the Hummer onto a trail the insurance companies state that their policy does not cover off-road, and that my insurance would be cancelled if I drive off road. The whole idea is to take the truck off-road, so I would hate to buy the truck and never get to drive it off-road.

Can anyone in the Ontario region suggest an insurance company that can insure older vehicles for off-road use?

Thanks again! I'm calling Desjardins now. I managed to get "trail riding" approved from another insurance company, but not "off-roading". The agent defined "off-roading" as driving over rocks and through water.

After way too many rejections, Intact Insurance provided me the coverage I needed. The agent could not find 'AM General' so the file had to go to the underwriters, but within an hour I was setup.
