What did they say about the first one not staying fixed?..I heard in some cases the dealer installed another bad head..
The first one was replaced about 10 months ago. The service writer claims this is the first time one came back.

I'm going to unload the H3 when it's paid for.

Sorry to hear about the issues Disney. Most have had great experiences with their H3s.

I just got mine back on Friday. After going to the dealer 7 times for the same issues. The dealer ended up changing the cam sensor, cylinder head, injectors, egr valve and the computer. It still misses but not not as bad as it was. The dealer told me it is due to bad gas. Trying to work things out with Hummer.

my H3 hasnt broken over a 1000 miles yet, and the only problems are the same as all OHC cars-high rpm lag, and I believe most of that is the rev limiter

Hello - New to this forum as of today. Dropped my 2007 H3 w/16,300 miles on itfor an oil change (all oil changes were done at the dealer) on Monday and mentioned to them that the check engine light came on and off a couple of times over the past couple of weeks. Alas, anew cylinder head replacement is needed.

I will be picking up vehicle this weekend and wanted to know if there are anything specific I should be paying attention to when I begin driving the vehicle again. I am sad about my poor car, but the dealer has been very cool about the whole issue - says it is pretty standard procedure now (eeek!).

Thanks and I will post up my initial reactions after driving it around for a few days.

At 85K Miles my '06 has now started to misfire and dealer tells me will require a $3K repair to replace head. I'm so frustrated as I don't have 3K and now right before Christmas this is going to bite. Our only vehicle so we have little choice other then put all the family Christmas $ into repairs.

I had the injectors cleaned and it helped it a little but it's still running rough in idle when cold. I understand this is a known issue with this engine, I wish I could have had this happen while under warrantee.

vehicles involved in this are-all 04-05 chevy colorado,all 04-05 gmc canyon, with 3.5L vin-6 rpo L52
2006 chevy colorado, 2006 gmc canyon, wtih 3.5L vin-6 rpo L52 and last 6 of vin less then 287698
2006 HUMMER H3 with 3.5L vin-6 rpo L52 and LAST 6 OF VIN LESS THAN 287591

Basically if you have an 06 H3 with the last six numbers under what i specified your problems could be due to a bad cylinder head.

The conditions for it are, your SES,(service engine soon) light will come on with the dtc code of p0300 for a cylinder misfire.its a single cylinder fault that only happens at idle, sometimes you can feel it, sometimes you can't. VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE THE VIN BREAKPOINT MIGHT BE AFFECTED BY WHATS CALLED NON UNIFORMINTAKE VALVE SEAT WEAR. THIS PREVENTS THE INTAKE VALVE FROM FULLY SEATING THUS CREATING A POOR COMBUSTION.

VEHICLES BUILT AFTER THE VIN BREAKPOINT ARE EQUIPPED WITH HARDENED VALVE SEATS TO PREVENT THIS, IF YOUR H3 HAS ISSUES AND DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE VIN CRITERIA THEN YOUR PROBLEMS LIE ELSWHERE. UNLESS IT CAN BE VERIFIED BY YOUR DEALER WITH A CYLINDER LEAKDOWN TEST THAT THERE IS STILL A LEAK. I'm not saying that its not possible for there to still be a problem because its after all, still a mechanical part. and parts can and will break.

Other then that, i will say that our dealership sells probably 20 H3's a month and we've been selling Hummer's since the H2's release. We have to date only had one vehicle that we found with a bad cylinder head. GM declares this as a rare occurance. They kinda suck to do, i myself am not a fan of the I5's. with proper engineering the 4.2L I6from the trailblazer/envoy could have easily fit. a little more engineering during the prototype faze could have netted the H3 with a 4.8L genIII vortec v8.

I'm surprised that there isn't a sticky on front/rear diffs or t-case's. maybe its a midwest thing but we've seen ten times the amount of those going bad vs. any engine problems.
hope this helps out.
Dustin

Why is GM not including the Hummer 06 H3 for the fix.
They are fixing the 2006 chevy colorado & 2006 gmc canyon.
My engine falls under the less then 287698.
How did you get your info?
I'm looking to take GM to court.
