Shifting Problem

Shifting Problem
Wonder if anyone can help. My truck has developed an intermittent shifter problem where the "MIL" light comes on and then it gets stuck in 3rd gear.
Clear the fault code and it goes back to normal for a few days.
From memory the code was P0785.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers
Jay

Mine did that when the ignition switch went bad. That 3rd gear thing is LIMP mode. After a month or so of on and off again the key started sticking in the ignition too. That is a pita. Cost for that repair is ~ $275.00
Hope that helps.

What is a pita? My '03 H2 started doing this last night. Stuck in 3rd gear, check engine light is on, key stuck in ignition, gauge cluster kicks on about 30 seconds to one minute after the truck is already running. Had diagnostics run and came up with codes P0740, P0753, P0758, P0785, and P1860. PLEASE HELP!!

I would bet anything it is the ignition switch. That is the only item that has failed on my truck and it has done so twice. Once under warranty and again @ 25/K miles. Not terribly expensive($275 at dealer) but will drive you nutz for sure. Let me know if the fix works.
A PITA for sure...lol

I went and bought an ignition switch at NAPA last night for $40. Walk out of the store, fire up the H2, and everything is working fine. It must be a short somewhere. I am going to hold on to the switch just in case, but this whole thing is driving me nuts! Thanks for the advice
