Hi. I'm buying a 2008 H2 with 100K miles next week. Tomorrow is the inspection. Is there anything in particular that I should have inspected aside from what's normally done on the engine?

Today I spoke with my mechanic about it. He doesn't have much experience with them, but they happened to have one in the shop when I called and they were having trouble finding suspension parts. Ball joints he said were particularly expensive.

Has anyone else found this to be true? Is there an online parts shop that most H2 owners use?

Hey, i got an 09 and have no real problems this end. I did have a faulty roll over sensor that knocked out the radio and heater matrix, but that was fixed. Couple of oil pipes were leaking, along with the sump, which I had all replaced, but that was about it (knock on wood!).

Check for broken exhaust manifold bolts, worn suspension as he would any other used vehicle and no, H2 suspension products are not terribly expensive. Tell him you want Moog parts and not the cheap chinese stuff. Check the operation of all things electrical by trying all the windows, sunroof, HVAC and so on.

Congrats on the new rig. There is nothing else better.

 

The drivetrain is pretty stout. Try shifting the transfer case through its settings. The main issues will be interior and electrical. I don't think the 08/09's are plagued with as many issues as earlier years though. Just use every switch and button to make sure they all preform their intended operation.
