Default Need A "GM Tech 2 Analyzer"

Hello to all Fellow Hummer H2 Owners,
I Have A 2008 Hummer H2 Lux. With Electrical Issues still resulting after Replacing My Battery & Alternator.
It Still Is Not Charging 100% Correctly and I Need To Know That I CAN Count On My Charging System As Well As To KNOW That I Can Accurately Diagnose ANY Other Issues, Rather Than Paying The Dealer Everytime I Have
A "Diagnostic Light Appear On My Dashboard.

I am Now Looking For A " GM Tech 2" Analyzer as I Have Been Searching Through The Forum, and This Appears To THE ONLY Device I Can Buy In Order To Properly Analyze and Perform any Diagnostics Other Then Paying The Dealer an Arm & A Leg Just To Plug In Their Dealer Analyzer.

I live in the Edmonton, Alberta Area of Canada and would Appreciate The Input Of Anyone That Could Tell Me Where They Have Bought Their Own, As Well As If I Am Choosing THE BEST Automotive Analyzer To Use For Any Year Of Hummer H2 Especially My 2008 Lux SUV.

I've Always Been Willing To Help Out Others, Even If It Was For $20 Just To Cover The Cost Of Fuel Nowadays.

I'm just so tired of All The Time I've Spent Trying To Solve This Issue And know that I will have others in the future as I have No Plans Of Ever Selling My Like New H2 with very low Kilometers.
Thanks in Advance,
Tony

I've got 3 dealer lvl scanners that are all decent at what they can do. I'll say it really depends on what you want to do with the scanner as to which one is best. My MDI2 and Tech2 are both knock offs and perform really well for everything I've done with them. If you plan on programming modules I would recommend an MDI or VX-nano if all you want is to diagnose then the Tech2 is the perfect tool. I find myself grabbing the Tech2 to troubleshoot issues and if programming is needed I'll use the MDI or nano. The MDI and nano require a laptop but the Tech2 can perform programming its just a bit more involved and also requires a laptop/Desktop to program.

There are plenty of these tools on ebay and other sites, both OEM and knock offs. The price is usually a good indication of OEM or knock off but be careful there are sellers that are not always honest with price and description.

Ditto on Bronxteck's statements, I purchased my Tech2 from them many years ago too. A year or so ago when I picked up my 08 I then ordered a MDI and laptop HDD with all the new support software.
Chinacardiags.com can provide what you need, when I bought from them I used Paypal backed with a credit card just in case! After all you are ordering from China!

I Have Been Looking To Try And Find The Best Deal, and I Have Seen A Few Ads on eBay, But not Sure If They Are Any Better Option Than Where You Purchased Yours At !
You Said That You Used PayPal with Your Credit Card To Back it up for Safety. I Like that Idea And Have To Make A Purchase So I Can Diagnose My Own Issues And Fix Things A Lot Less Than What The Dealership Wants !
Will I Require The MDI And HDD Because Mine Is An 08 ?
Thanks in Advance

My wife told me that if I spend my money on a Tech 2 she would leave me - I have to say I do miss her!

Here's a link

https://www.chinacardiags.com/wholes...l-package.html

This will get you what you need, there are also other options that include a hard case or just keep it in a drawer.

Ebay would also be a good option as they now have some good guarantee that force sellers to refund if something does not work.

Default Thanks For The Prompt Reply

I Truly Appreciate Your Input From Another Great Senior Member, To Help Assure Me That The Model You've Suggested Will Allow Me To Be Able To Do Diagnostics On All Aspects Of My 08 H2 Lux.
And I Was Able To Initially Buy My New 08 Hummer As The Ex Gave Me A Place To Spend My Money Wisely...
Lol

def get the hard case, I didn't and really regretted it, seems you can't buy one afterwards , I tried too but it wasn't cost effective.

I struggled to find a cost effective alternative it's been a real pain.

You may need the Candi Module (CanBus) however both High Speed and Low Speed comms do go to the OBD2 connector, so perhaps it works without?

Tech2+Candi worked on an 08, but never tried without, so perhaps someone can advise on this?
