I just had the same pop up I got last night. It said a remote system was trying to access my computer. It asked if I had accessed a gaming site or other site that I allowed access. It gave me the option to grant or block access. I blocked it like I did last night. What did the pop up you guys got say?

The JS trojan used comes from www.banner82.com which is known for being a "phishing site". If you do a search on banner82.com you will find other sites that have been compromised by the same people.

More info on this particular trojan that was used on our site: http://www.symantec.com/security_res...102718-1528-99

As of yesterday, they haven't told Patrick jack. They just tell him they were working on it. It happened to almost all 50+ automotive forums associated with the company. I would assume jdrew's conclusion is the most logical one.

So how did it get us?
Tthe database was hacked. The way it was done wasn't that hard really.. The hosting company probably has either the same password on all of the databases or something that was fairly easy to figure out.

Bullitin board "code" is easy to screw up... You basically have just a few strings of code that dictate where links should point on all things clickable. (minus the adds and such) It would take a short amount of time to change the "root link" so that all sub-links that pull from that line of code are sent to the new location.

I take it back. Jeremy was right.

Well, yeah... As if I'm ever really wrong..
