Default Work Internet problems

Some morons here are streaming video from the net and it's bringing our internet to a stand-still. We have 2 T3 lines but apparently that's not good enough for these attorneys to watch all of thier TV shows [sm=icon_flaming.gif](took me 2 minutes to load the smiley page). DOH. I can barely load the forum and post. If you see me dissappear for a day or two, you'll know why. We are trying to kick people off but these people say "We don't know whos doing it" so real nice firewall we have here. 2nd largest freakin' lawfirm in the world and they can't tell us who is streaming the videos. Anyway, just thought I would share!

It's not the equipments fault, it's your jackazz network guys not knowing what they are doing .... LOL! I have had this problem here too and I clamped down on it so hard it has never happened again.

On a cisco router -Check traffic by doing show ip cache flow that should show who the culprits are. They will stand out with a large packet count and a steady increase in said count.
On a Cisco pix (assuming you guys are a cisco shop) do a show connections and you get similar info.

Yeah I know. They always do this. They blame something or other for not knowing HOW. It's an old story man, and been like this for who knows how many years. Now you understand what I deal with every day lol.

I just made sure I'm the main network/administrator guy so I can stomp out those problems. Course, this also makes me the head jackazz too.[]

The funny thing is I told them about this EARLY yesterday, and they said, oh people are streaming video but we don't know who. Well, HOW THE HELL do you know they are doing it if you can't even trace a freakin IP to a computer name? Come ON.

NOW, they said it's a MCI problem. HELLO!!!!! I told them that yesterday morning. I said, check the MCI connection, but of course as usual I'm the stupid one and don't know what I'm doing, even though I'm always right and they find out 3 days later. MAN I can't wait to get this re-fi done. I need to get out of here! I'm so sick of being surrounded by incompetance and lack of common sense.
