With or without spare tire carrier?
Curious what you guys think looks better. H2's with or without the spare tire carrier. Although my rig is not my daily driver anymore I still find the spare tire carrier extremely annoying when placing or removing things from the rear cargo area.
I thought about pulling it off and adding regular tow hooks which would also give me more room in the garage where she sits.
Other question is, what have you guys done with your license plate relocation for those of you who have taken your spare tire carrier off?

personally if i didnt have my spare tire on the roof i would definitely have the carrier. i think it makes these trucks much more beefy. my old H2 had the carrier out back i can relate to it being annoying when you have to put something in the back. and it did rattle around at times to. but i think the look out ways the minor inconvenience.
if you wind up taking it off let me know i wouldnt mind taking it off your hands lol

The main reason I chose my '06 over the '05 I was also considering was because the '06 has the swing out spare tire carrier. The spare inside takes up too much room and I'd hate to find myself on the side of the road with a flat and the spare on the roof. I don't mind the swing out carrier, it's no big deal to swing it open whenever I need to get into the back.
For a DD, I am really hating the spare tire carrier on my 2009. If I ever had to load up the rear, it's a few more steps I have to go through. It's more of an annoyance than anything. It also blocks the rear view significantly. So much so that I'm tired of it dealing with it.
With my 2003, it was internal. Not the best place, but it made parking so much easier & I could actually see out of the rear view window. I just had no storage. I ended up just riding around without a spare. I had no issues.
If my rig was only for offroading (I would not have bought the 2nd gen if that was the case), of course I'd leave it on & prefer it on the rear for changing out.
As for needing a spare in "normal situations," I'll call a tow. Not that I can't change tires (been doing far too much of that in the past 2 years), but that I'm not willing to put my life on the line to change a tire on an interstate where someone could hit me. Too many people die trying to save $200.
On top seems great, but I'd hate to have to remove a 100+ tire/wheel combo from the roof.
I'm also curious about relocating the licence plate.
I was thinking of buying the license plate pocket & just rerouting the wiring.
There's a thread on it, here: https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...e-plate-27795/

Ugh I lost out on the auction for the regular tow hooks. Not to mention the license plate relocation seems a little annoying as well so I guess I'll just keep the darn thing on there.
Thanks for the opinions gents!

sorry you missed out on the auction.
i have the interior mount and i like it. easier to see. and im not to worried about space. the only thing that is ever back there is my dog and he never complains about the tire being back there.
i like how the h2's look with both configurations but: since my truck doesnt have the front guard, doesnt have the roof rails- it just makes sense the tire is hidden. with the h2's that have the guard and rails- the exterior tire carrier completes that look.
