Default Wiper Issue ??

Anyone here ever have an issue with their front wipers, they decide to go on by them self and you can not turn them off. I had to pull the fuse out for now and put it in the garage until I can figure this out. I read that this was a common issue but they never put a recall out on it.

Any help would be great.

Thank You

before you bother putting that on, unless its one of the brand new units for the 03 recall your just gonna have the same damn problem... If you paid for it, i'd return it. Just pop off the plastic cover, you'll see the circuit board upside down in it, the seal for that cap is porus/foam allowing the water in. If you look at the very top of the board facing forward, you'll see the corrosion traces, like carbon tracks on a distributor. Wipe them off. Glob thatboard up w/ electrical grease to cover all the components and you can also put some gasket sealer on the cap. Issue fixed.

While your at the dealer returning that new motor, buy the 4 plactic clips that holddown the cowl cover that you have to remove to get at the motor. They almost always break.

Shoot I just put the new one in, but I am still going to put some gasket sealer on it tomorrow I did not think of that. I have to say the circut board on mine was all rusty looking and white stuff, so maybe I was smart replacing my while I had it. I just can not figure out why this is not a reacll yet with so many same issue with them. Maybe I will try and call Hummer tomorrow not that it will do anything but can not hurt.

Thank for the heads up and I will be sure to ad some sealer to it for sure otherwise I will have to deal with this again next year I think.

Thank You

yea, all that **** should wipe right on off the board...I had a small wire bruch for sodering electronics that I used. Personally I would still glob that board up w/ electrical grease, the **** you put in auto light sockets would work...Smear it all over it.That will protect the board if any water does make it past the gasket.

I just did mine it is the wiper motor cover located right under the winsheils cowl. It comes right off with a little ease. The part will take you all of 5 mins to swap out you will spend more time trying not to break the cowl. Be sure you what bflorin said above, use some good sealer around the new motor cover they do not give you this part you will have to pick some up your self.

Good luck and take your time on the cowl removal it feels like it could snap easy.

Yes it is where the wiper arms go thru. You have to take the left and right side air cleaner cover off first they just pull up and off they are the square box looking things, then remove the screws from under them and slowly and easy remove the entire cowl section in one piece. Do not forget to remove both wiper arms first also. Take you time and it should come off kind of easy may take a little working with it but it comes off for sure. Once that is off you will see the wiper motor in the middle pull both plugs off and remove just the motor cover and put the new on right on. Plug both back in andyou can test it before you put the cowl back on.

Good luck
