Default winter tires

It's the second day of summer, so naturally I have started to look for winter tires. Actually, I just purchased a set of 16" stock rim to use as winter rims so I can keep my 18" H3X rims in the garage in the winter. I've read lots of threads on people using A/T and M/T tires with good results in the winter. Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions for straight winter/snow/ice tires?

I was thinking Bridgestone Blizzak, Michelin X-Ice, Nokian Hakkapeliitta SUV or any other dedicated winter tire. I am assuming winter tires are going to be better in the snow and ice then any A/T or M/T tire.

I am looking to have the best traction possible on ice, light snow, and deep snow. I live in Saskatchewan and 5 months of the year we are covered in the white stuff.

Anybody got any suggestions?

I'm in Nova Scotia also lots of snow. I had Mickey Thompson MTZ's on my old H3 and really loved them so I just bought another set for my H2 so I can take off my 20's. They are really good in our winter enviornment and not that expensive.

Those definatly look good. How are they on ice? What size are they?

I won't be running them in the summer at all, would you still recommend MTs over winter tires?
