I added 35's and noticed a little lost power at take off. Will 4.56 gears from an I5 fit my Alpha?

 

id guess u could swap out the diffs.

I will be doing this "mod" soon enough. The 4:10s in our Alphas do OK with the 315s but after some calculations I see that moving up to 4:56s will put me back into the "sweet spot" for the 5.3L plus the low end will be once again outstanding (especially for wheeling)!

I don't forsee any negative change in milage. I actually think that the mileage will increase as it did in our XJ with 33s going from the 3:55s to 4:11 gears. Went up 2 mpg overall after the correct speedo gear was installed!!!

I am not sure if you will need any "new" carriers, shims or anything else if you use the Alpha diffs. I plan on swapping in entire diffs (front and rear) from our H3T Adventure (4:56s locked front and rear) before selling it. YES, we will be relacing it with another H3T, getting and Alpha this time!!!

 

I believe Alpha's came factory with 4.10's... Also, came with beefed up front diff casing so planned on keeping the diffs. Just thinking about swapping the gears.

ANY, H3/H3T that came with either an Alpha 08-10 or a front locker 09-10 I5 Adventures and Alpha OffRoads have the Cast Iron Front Differential Housing.

I had it priced out a few months ago (I don't do re-gears and locker installs but I will do a front diff.) and they wanted just as much for the gears, install and locker as I could get the entire front diff. assembly complete with 4:56s and Eton locker. Might want to check the GM online parts places and see what the cost of a "complete CI diff" is compared to the re-gear.

 

Or MU he could check w/ Brodie (ridgedemon.com) idk if he has any right now, but he did at one point...

 

That is a good idea also. I don't think he has any right now but it is worth a try!

If you wheel your HUMMER, might as well put a front locker in there while they have the front diff open. It shouldn't cost anything extra for the locker install except maybe drilling a hole for the air line or electrical connection.

 

I have broken H3T 4.56 HC4 rear axel 90% prts are good has 8000 miles on it, let me know if you want to do the gear swap.
