Default Wifes new toy.

Hi everyone, I and my wife are now the owner of a 07 Hummer H3. This forum has already helped me out several times and I've only had the vehicle two days. My wife decided she was done with driving a minivan (8 years of it) and she has always liked Hummers, so that is what we ended up with. Nice to have a 4wd vehicle again I must say. We picked up from a dealer that buys from a lease company and re-sells so we got a better than average deal we think. However I am now going through all the items that need to be taken care of to get everything operating properly again. Just this morning I found out that both sides of my carpet underneath were soaking wet. Removed everything that needed to come out to get the carpet out and pulled it to dry. No mold or mildew on the carpet yet that I could see or smell. Some corrosion was evident so I'm thinking it has been wet for a little while. I checked all sunroof drain tubes and they are passing water with no leaks at the joints. I'm thinking someone left the sunroof open during some heavy downpours unless there are some other points of water entry I have not seen yet on here. Other possibility, someone got in to deep water or flooded. It is dry under the rear mat so I don't think it was fully submerged if this is the case. Hopefully after all is dry this is the end of the wet interior and no electrical problems will surface. Anyone have any other suggestions for water leak areas, I'm all ears. Thanks for the help you have already (unknowingly) given me!

Congrats on the truck. If it has marker lights they are a likely source. Also check the roof bar attachment rails.

No marker lights. I will look into the roof rail possibility. We ended up with the yellow with black leather interior/luxury package. Seems to be pretty solid vehicle. We like the chrome accents with the yellow and black, looks very clean on the outside. Wheels need help, the chrome plating is peeling pretty bad. Probably have to have them refinished in order for them to look nice again. Underneath has a fair amount of rust, autocheck showed most of it's life spent in NY and PA. Bolts that hold the skid plates on were really rusty. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have it in order.

I just bought an 03 H2 myself and was having some work done and my guy found a soaking wet drivers floor as well. They pulled it all apart and dried it out for me.

They think the culprit was the roof lights which didn't appear to be sealed well. We replaced all the lights anyway with LEDs and then resealed with some RV sealant.

When the first mentioned the problem to me I did some searching and saw it could be a number of things such as roof lights, windshield, door seals, or firewall. So, hopefully this will allow you to identify the leak and fix it up permanently.

It seems to be staying dry now, even after running through several pressure washes. Took a week to dry the carpet out fully.
