Default When adjusting the keys

Hi all,
I am curious if you need to have the front end off the ground when adjusting the keys (oem or aftermarket)

I have aftermarket 0-3 inch keys installed and the bolts were in all the way to the max, last week end I backed them out by about 1/2... the ride got a little better but the ride height stated the same.
I am wondering shouldnt the ride height also go down too when backing out the bolts? Or do I need to have the front wheels off the ground to get the adjustment to take?

Yes you need to have both front tires off ground to adjust keys correctly, bolts should be loosened same amount for each side. Before you do this measure wheel to fender height and once adjusted remeasure. You may have to make side to side adjustments to get level lift right to left.
