Default What's Under the Lower Apron?

Hi guys, I was looking at the front end of my 2006 H2, trying to figure out how to paint the lower apron below the grille. Not the small center insert below it, but the piece below that, just above the H2 skid plate. Mine is chrome plastic, and it looks to me like it's possibly hiding a beautiful black apron underneath like so many of the chrome parts seem to do! My question is does anyone know for sure if it's a nice black piece, or if it's just the framework of the bumper. Also, any write ups on the removal of the piece? As always, thanks a ton!

The black piece where the skid plate mounts on the plastic piece above that?

Sorry, hopefully this will clarify. The chrome piece in the yellow circle is what I have on my truck. It's definitely a plastic piece. I would love to remove it if there is a finished black piece underneath like were on so many of my chromed parts. Thanks!

The factory one is black steel. I've seen those on ebay but I thought they were a full metal replacement. Since that's plastic it may just clip over the factory black on underneath.

That's hopeful! I guess I'll have to try peeling it out and see what's underneath. Any ideas on how to remove it? I see 2 bolts underneath but I'm sure there are more. Sorry for all the questions! And thanks again everyone!

LoJac963 is correct. The factory one is just black steel so its probably still there underneath it unless someone removed it to put that piece on. Let us know what you find.

View my public profile. In the first album I have a front pic. This is the black piece (bumper).

Alright so I got antsy and just peeled the plastic piece off, low and behold, a black steel bumper! Perfect shape other then some minor rust near the top where it looks like water collects. Once it warms up here, I'll sand and paint it up! Thanks for everyone's help!

Glad to hear you got it off, no place for massive amounts of chrome on the 2's!!!
