My answer would be that since you have kids probably with lots of stuff that you should go for the H2. You could buy a nice camper to tow along with it as well.

I went from a '05 TJ Rubicon to my '06 H2 and love it. This size though is not good for the trails. Traction in the snow and sand is better then my Rubicon was due to the weight.

As far as fuel milage, I am at 12.1 for quite some time now in a combination of city and highway.
