I just bought my 1996 H1 6.5L turbo off eBay. Will be delivered on Monday. I know nothing about hummers other than I have wanted one for the last 15 years. Finally getting it. My question is what is best engine oil to use and what kind of filter. How many quarts to buy. I plan to learn everything and do all my own mechanic work. Anything else to help get me started is greatly appreciated. Oh and it has a new engine because of the #8 cylinder issue I'm told.

 

Best engine oil is whichever high quality 15/40 you like. Some people like the synthetics better but most H1 owners I know don't use them. You need 8 quarts for an oil change.
