Default Water

I went through about...4 feet of water on a flooded street about 200 to 300 feet long with my H1 no problem I sealed the oil dip sticks with alittle rubber O-ring and made a custom box for the Ecu stays dry and a snorkel but why do they say its recomended for only 30 inches of water is there something else I should worry about?? I dont go water forging alot, I just did it cause I wanted too and I didnt want to take the detour. Its good to have a Hummer

30 inches of water, not like the military humvee's they are not water proof. it is most of the electrical system. everytrhing below 30 inches has water proof electrical connectors and the military vehicles comes with a deep fording kit which pumps a low pressure amount of air into the vent system and the fan clutch is able to be disabled to enter the water and not break off the fan blades. night a day differents between the two.

One is behind the air filter canister and one is under the passenger rear fender. You also have t-case, hubs, etc issues

I can vouch for the broken fan blade issue. When I was in Iraq the first time, 2003, I was stationed up in the mountains along the Iranian border. We had taken some rocket fire to our patrol base and we were able to see a dust cloud where they were driving away in a hurry. So we took off "over the rivers and through the dales"(a little C.W. McCall for you more seasoned folks) after them. I was a driver back then. We hit this stream that was a bit deeper then I thought, probably about 4.5 -5 feet deep. It was pretty thrilling to get through it. As we sped away from that valley in pursuit, I noticed a vibration. I thought it was a broken motor mount. Well the truck started to over heat really quick but we kept trying to run them down. They beat us to the Iranian border and got away. So we setup another patrol base for the day and night to see if they came back. As I PMCS'd my truck I discovered that all of the blades minus one had been snapped off. We also found that both of the other trucks in our platoon had 2 blades each broken off. So definitely keep the RPMs low if you go deep like that.
