so when installing a aftermarket head unit you are unable to reuse the factory mic? am i reading this correct? if so ,why ?

The onstar microphone may be able to be reused, but you will need to find the wiring for it and solderon a jack to plug into an aftermarket nav unit

ohhh gotcha. i assumed it the wiring for it would be behind the stereo already or plugged into the onstar unit.
