Upgrade your H3 to Alpha V8?
For the able Hummer owner, we have a special shipment of crate 5.3 V8's in stock. If you would like an added challenge and horsepower boost we have 6.0's as well. These engines are longblock assemblies straight from the production line, never started or installed. Contact me for questions and pricing, I will say that longblock pricing can be as low as $2500. phemmingsen@sewell.com

You fellas sure that will work?
When I checked on this....I got the following information from a reliable source:
Alpha V-8 vs I-5 architecture
Can't do it. It's a lot bigger deal than one might first realize.
The front of dash sheet metal moved rearward about an inch to clear the V8 intake manifold...
In addition:
LY5 is a cast iron Suburban/Yukon engine. The H3 is designed, calibrated, and validated with an aluminum block 5.3L. The mass difference would yield barrier test uncertainties, and suspension issues. Not to mention even replacing with the correct V8 would require new torsion bars, shocks, steering rack, radiator, 4.10 front and rear axle gear sets, a V8 torque converter, exhaust system, and a hole slew of other stuff I can't think of off the top of my head.
And...
LY5 accessory drive won't work in an H3.
LY5 oil pan won't work in an H3.
LY5 exhaust manifolds won't work in an H3.
LY5 engine harness will not work in an H3/H3 engine harness probably won't work on an LY5.
H3 V8 engine cal is not optimized/may not work with an LY5.

We are not taking the stance that this is a "bolt-on" affair and realize the pitfalls of attempting such. When it comes to motor swaps, there are always different degrees of "do-able." If on one hand you have a full bolt on swap and the other installing a Viper motor in a Jeep, this lies somewhere in between.
We can provide additional parts such as the oil pan and exhaust manifolds, but the prospective buyer of these motors would have to apply much of their own knowledge.
In addition, we do have all-aluminum 5.3's available.

Yes, I think we'd all know both Nemic brothers would laugh as such a notion. We're aware of the many differences and can give a few more reasons why this won't work. On the other hand, we already havealternative solutions to most of them, eventhe firewall concern.
