Default UCP question.

I am planning on purchasing UCP in the near future. I was planning on going with the OEM grid type. My question is would I have any heating ventilation problems (or anything else) if I added 1/4" aluminum plate to the bottom of them to make them more of sliders than grids to hang up on. I have access to pretty much all the Aluminum I would need for this project, so tell me what you think. I don't have access to a brake or anything to bend or fab the plate so that's why I was just planning on bolting it to the bottom of the OEM bars. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Heating issues, I doubt it, do you use the H3 to tow at all? Than I would say a tranny cooler would be a wise investment. My only concern along with all the other guys is that it will be a giant mud catcher... you will need to clean it out some how... I would think if you were to drill out the holes where the OEM bolts are for the UCP are and than literally weld it onto the UCP it would allow you to utilize the stock mounting points... Alrock and Bunger are right on w/ responses (CHO)

You don't need the plate, that's why 1000s are using the cage UBP w/o issue. With a plate you will become a heavy equipment earth scraper.

Good luck.
