I am sorry to necro bump but I don't have pm privelages.. I wanted to message OP to find out where he got that price quote because I am in NJ with a smoked transmission and don't want to pay aamco 2800 for a crappy rebuild.

 

The OPs last activity was almost 2.5 YEARS ago.

You can always use your phone and call local shops for pricing.

 

I just replaced the transmission in my Buick Terraza. I got a re-manufactured one from Portland Torque Products out of Oregon for $1250 plus shipping and core deposit but it has a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. It cost me $600 to have it put in. Nobody could match their warranty or price in my area. Not even close. Some shops wanted nearly $4000 to do the job with a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. I don't know what they'd want for a Hummer Transmission but a phone call is cheap to find out.

 

Shop in Georgia got a Jasper tranny with 100K warranty - about $3k installed.
